Herbert Armstrong's Entangling Web

Honey, look at what we've got them believing in this issue!

Mary Lane graciously comments, saying: "You can no longer purchase Robinson's book from John Hadden publishers, but there is a site on ESN for purchasing the book, and Painful Truth's editor once had a download of the book. Not sure if Mike still does this. "

So while TW is no longer available from John Hadden publishers, we understand it can be obtained through another source. A letter to ESN from a WCG minister discussing HWA's incest is linked here, along with a link to the form to order Tangled Web.

But there is yet another way to get Tangled Web, right where Herbert W. Armstrong got started, from your local community library.
Though interlibrary loan service, a computer search done today reveals (below) the following libraries have Armstrong's Tangled Web in their respective collections. It is not exhaustive. Some of the first edition initial printing of 6,000 copies of Tangled Web were sent to libraries. One might be nearby you. Most are also willing to mail their copy to distant local libraries for checkout on your card, though interlibrary loan service, completely free, or at a nominal shipping cost. Your local library can assist you with any details.

Great information here! Thanks. I have bought several copies in the past when they were more available, but gave most away.
I also have used the library loan system to read a copy(I have read the book 3 times)I think this is one of the most liberating books around, which is one reason that the scattered COG leaders will not recommend it. It brings up some uncomfortable questions, like why are the COGs still teaching this man's religion?
I realize that some are so hooked on the man, that they are unwilling or unable to free their minds from that system. But if Tangled Web doesn't convince you, then I suggest you read others that have exited the system(ie,John Tuit's "The Truth Shall Make You Free," Wm.Hinson's "Broadway to Armageddon," Joseph Hopkins'"The Armstrong Empire,"-all advertised on ESN)
Armstrongism came out of the adventist movement, and HWA plagiarized much of his doctrinal concepts from adventist leaders(ie, the church era theory originated with Ellen G.White, and even from such far out relgious writers as Joseph Smith-founder of the Mormon religion)

That's right Mary Lane.

Each one of these books, including others mentioned or reviewed on Ambassador Watch, provide a valuable, unique insight and perspective on the Armstrongs and the church, not available anywhere else. While each has its own strenghts and weaknesses, taken together they provide more of a complete picture of Herbert and Garner Ted Armstrong, and how the Radio Church of God evolved from its creation in Oregon down to the present generation.

Many of these books, which are out of print and becoming relatively difficult or impossible to get (Such as Broadway to Armageddon, for one example) are still available for checkout (just as Armstrong's Tangled Web is) through interlibrary loan.

Therefore, those currently in WCG, PCG,RCG,LCG, and UCG are without excuse- and have nothing to lose and everything to gain, by checking out these books now and reading them.

Great? O dear!! Well, I suppose it is very difficult to help the gullible!

>>I have bought several copies in the past when they were more available, but gave most away.<<

What a blessing you must have conferred upon those who accepted copies? They must have been very grateful!!

Don't you often get that warm feeling that flows through those who distribute bibles to the unconverted? But by these acts of generosity, you should be feeling much warmer!

I get a strange kick out the HWA apologist who want to deny the incestuous relationship between Herbert and his daughter. I listened to the Lochner tapes and it happened. Don't believe me. Kim (last I heard she was ill with cancer in Minnesota), Floyd Lochner's wife, knows the truth. Ray Kalamaha, Kim's father from Minot, North Dakota, has listened to the tapes. Dan Creed, former WCG pastor in North Dakota and now in Elk River, MN, knows the truth about these tapes. Will they talk about it? Probably not. It is such a shameful ugly thing to even think about, let alone talk about them. But let's be clear here, the incest happened.
